On to Phuket!

Our last day in Singapore was quite eventful.  We met up with our new friend Mattan and his father, who are both from Israel and traveling the world.  We went to the top of the Swissotel to the observation deck where we could look out over the entire city.  Unfortunately after we left, it started to rain - hard.  We ran into a beautiful building which turned out to be the Singapore theater.  After viewing some art exhibits and taking touristy pictures, we were off to walk around the Marina.  We met some interesting characters - there was a 13 year old Chinese boy in a soccer uniform that wanted to play catch with Kori, and exchange different currencies for yuan.  We also met 2 men from India who were extremely forward and wanted to go to the disco...  We walked along the Marina Bay Sands and saw the new mall, casino, and resort - unfortunately we walked a little too long which resulted in us missing our bus to the airport and sprinting through the city in a torrential dowpour.  Long story short, we finally made it to Phuket!

Thailand is amazing.  The beaches are beautiful, food and drinks are cheap, and there are tons of other backpackers around.  The first night we stayed in Phuket town where we met some hilarious people from Chicago and Canada.  Highlights of the night included: playing the game 'is it a boy or a girl?' (which is actually really difficult), Kori sampling the vomit station (see picture below). watching thai rappers, befriending a stray dog and naming him Freddy.  We also decided that Singha is our favorite new beer.

The next day we went to Kata beach for some lovely relaxation.  Kori read her book for 6 hours, we both got stung by jellyfish, and got our tan on slash sunburned.  We also got sweet matching sarongs

Today we are off on a boat tour to the Khai islands, and will leave for Krabi and some more amazing beaches in the morning!
